Why You Should Re-Elect Sue Horn:

During my time on the Board of Education, I've proven my commitment to strong fiscal discipline and  focused on student achievement with transparency.  

I am seeking the two-year term to finish the important work we have started with the Master Facilities Phase II project and execution of the District's Strategic Plan- work that deserves the benefit of consistent financial oversight and leadership.

I have spent many hours over the past 3 1/2 years in collaboration on the development of the Master Facilities Phase II budget and contingency plans which enables the district to meet the needs of the community for the new Gahanna Lincoln High School opening in January 2026.  I dedicated time and leadership in guiding the management of the district's finances during these uncertain times in public school funding and lengthening our levy cycle.  We have provided transparency and encouraged advocacy within the community to the many levers of public school funding within the state legislature.

With over 30+ years of professional and financial leadership, I helped develop and launch our District's Strategic Plan.  I've worked hard to ensure that every dollar is spent where it matters most- on our students and staff.  We hired a new Superintendent and Treasurer to lead the district with heart & pride, with vision and integrity, created board goals connected to the strategic plan, and enhanced our monthly board workshop meetings with overviews of our academic programs and director updates.  Through the monthly workshops we implemented new curriculum in both elementary Math and English Language Arts, implemented modified block schedule at the high school and modified the start times across the district - all with students health and well-being at the forefront of our decisions. 

Expanded community outreach and engagement through personal interactions and conversations, active participation in school district events, participation in quarterly Coffees & Conversations, and participation in other civic meetings whereby I can listen to and address the community's questions and concerns.
