I was raised in a small rural community in the northeastern Ohio town of Andover in Ashtabula County. I graduated from Thiel College in Greenville, PA, earning a dual major of Accounting and Business Administration. After graduation, I moved to Columbus in 1985 where she started her accounting career as a CPA for the Big 8 accounting firm of Ernst & Whinney.
My financial and management experience continued at Victoria's Secret Direct where I grew and developed starting as a financial analyst to several promotions later as Executive Vice President of Marketing managing 50+ associates and an annual budget of $500 million dollars.
Sue met her husband of 37 years, Verlin and chose to start and raise their family in Gahanna. Their three children, Courtney (2010), Emily (2012), and Zachary (2014) all graduated from Gahanna Lincoln and The Ohio State University.
I met my husband of 37 years, Verlin and chose to move to Gahanna in 1989 and start our family. Our three children, Courtney (2010), Emily (2012), and Zachary (2014) loved their diverse experiences at Gahanna schools and were well prepared for their college experiences as graduates of The Ohio State University.
Coming from a small rural high school, I was and continue to be impressed with the comprehensive program of studies offered at Gahanna Lincoln High School. Gahanna truly offers programs and extra-curricular activities for all students, making a large high school feel much smaller and intimate - a place where all students belong.
In 2006, Courtney had a major health issue that required her to miss most of her freshman and sophomore years. During that time, the teachers and staff at both Gahanna Middle School East and Gahanna Lincoln High School rallied around our family and provided the support that we needed.
Over the time my children attended Gahanna-Jefferson schools, I witnessed and experienced first hand the dedication of the teaching staff and watched my children find their niche and thrive. I want to ensure that other families continue to experience the same well-rounded experience that prepares students for their future success. In 2021, I decided it was my turn to give back by running for the Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education. It has been an enlightening experience, and I would be proud to continue to working on behalf of our students, families and community.
